about

Red Haven Vancouver, British Columbia

Forming in January 2014, we’ve made our merry way around Canada in our trusty Astro several times, toured the UK and US, playing every pub, café, music hall, living room and street corner we could find. The songs we write and perform have been heavily influenced by two genres coming from opposite sides of the continent: the ecstatic swing of New Orleans, and the rural folk of the Canadian woods ... more

Track Name: Kentucky Gin
Let me tell you a little story
About a man named Yankee Jim
Who gambled his whole life away
For that old Kentucky Gin
He used to be a banker
For some big old corporate slob
Till he got himself in trouble with the New York City Mob

Oh that Old Kentucky Gin
Will knock you right down off your feet
Your legs will start to wander
But your head wont miss a beat
A little slice of heaven
Every place you're in
You'll never want to sober up once you've tried that Old Kentucky Gin

Well that New York City mob
Were a tough old kinda crew
They brewed that Old Kentucky Gin
Till prohibition days were through
Well Yankee Jim was their biggest customer
A drinker though and through
He'd drink until the day was done
Until the morning too
Well Jim worked up a hefty debt
And drank more than his share
Those New York City mobsters
Strapped him to a 'lectric chair
They said HEY JIM YOU GOT THE CASH?
And Jim just hung his head
He said I sure haven't got a lot
But I know someone who does

Chorus

So Yankee Jim got all dressed up
And went down to his bank
Knew all the combinations
Stole all that he could take
It was all running smoothly
But Jim was drunk right off his score
And he smashed into a big old mirror
Thought it was a door
That mirror shattered than alarms
When ringing through the hall
Oh the cops don't look to kindly on a drunkard thief at all

Run Jim Run

Chorus X2
Track Name: Festival Man
You were alone
And you had no one to guide you
You ran out of intuition
So you got someone inside you

You stumbled home
With a pair of painted faces
And passed out on sequined laps
While they were powdering their noses

And when the lake is to damn shallow
Hold your breath and dive in
Don't let the water overthrow you
Get it under your skin

When the table disappears
Drink them under your breath
They will pave the road beneath you
They will wallow in your death

And you burn burn burn
Burning through the score
And you burn burn burn
As you're walking out the door

You've run out of situations
To put your back against the wall
And the only consolation
Is to watch yourself fall

They are walking complications
They are pocketing their gold
They will pave the road above you
They will laugh as you grow old

And when the lake is to damn shallow
Hold your breath and dive in
Don't let the water overthrow you
Get it under your skin

When the table disappears
Drink them under your breath
They will pave the road beneath you
They will wallow in your death

And you burn burn burn
Burning through the score
And you burn burn burn
As you're walking out the door
